The Calm before...

Liza and I did get away a bit today. We ran some errands together and were able to get a late lunch. It was relaxing and offered some moments for great connection and understanding. I asked Liza if she is fearful. Her response was without hesitation, "No." She continued, "I am anxious and just want to get it over with, but I am not fearful." I love my wife so much and am so proud of the faith and trust she is exhibiting. Last night she actually rested well. Let's pray that tonight and tomorrow morning (very early) are equally restful and peaceful. We will leave our house around 5:oo AM and the surgery will begin at 7:30 AM. Be praying and I will post as soon as I have any news.

More specific prayer requests:
Pain free entry into surgery - meds before going to OR
Calm and peaceful morning, travel, and registration
No infection, no seizures, no complications, no damage to Liza's brain or personality
That we would get a private hospital room so that I (Scot) could stay the nights with her
That it would be possible for me to stay close during the night in the ICU
That her waking from surgery would be peaceful and pain-free
That I would be able to easily find a place to post new messages for you all

Thanks again, a million times over, thank you all.

Scot and Liza
My brother has been thru this surgery, so my heart went out to you when I heard about this thru Homewood Homeschoolers. I just wanted to encourage you.....there will be life after this is over. My brother has not only recovered, but he's just returned from his 2nd tour of Iraq. You will dance and continue to Glorify God in the arts. I will continue to pray for you and I'm especially praying that every area in your body is restored and there will be no lasting damage. Be healed,be blessed, and be at peace.

Scot and Liza,

I wanted to let you both know that I am praying for you. It breaks my heart that you have had to face this trial and that all this time I did not know what was going on in your lives. I was just informed of the situation and was heart broken when I heard it.

Know that God is in complete control and that His plans are far greater than our own. He loves you Liza, so much and is going to provide complete healing and restoration to both your body and your spirit.

I will continue to pray for the two of you and your families. I have complete peace that the surgery will go perfectly and smoothly tomorrow morning. I'll be praying that you are both able to get a peaceful night's sleep tonight and for a quick recovery for you Liza.

I will be in Houston the week of Thanksgiving and promise to come by and see you. Keep your head up and remember that our God is great and sovereign and He has already conquered this trial for you! I love you both!

God bless you,

Courtney Smith

Dear Liza and Scot,
You, your families, and the medical personnel are in our prayers! Our awesome, glorious Lord is still in the healing and miracle business, and we claim complete healing for you, Liza! We also pray that you, Scot, and your precious children will be at peace during your surgery and recovery period and that your healing will come quickly. I've been thinking about you guys a lot. Robin and I are continually praying. Thought I'd share a joke.

2 muffins are sitting in an oven.
One muffin looks at the other muffin and says "Man, its HOT in here!" The other muffin looks around in disbelief and says "No way!, a talking muffin."

I'll be up with you guys in the morning praying for you.

"He is Risen!" It's been said!
He's conquered fear and death and dread!

Father, In Jesus Name I lift up Liza, Scott and the gifted surgeon who will perform this delicate operation. I pray for healing and restoration and peace! I pray for a miraculous recovery! I pray that your angels will be continually round about the OR this morning guarding all who enter there.
You are The God who can be Trusted and we are all trusting You for Liza. We have no one else to turn to and we are confident that You will reign Victorious today as you do EVERYday and Forever!!
Amen!

Liza and Scot,
The Lord woke me up at 4:20 this morning and I was praying for the preparation to the hospital and surgery etc.. I pray all went smooth. I will be continually praying for you throughout the day. You are precious Liza and the Father has you in the palm of his hand.
Scot, please keep us posted if Liza is up to having visitors. She said she wanted visitors but we want to be sensitive to how she is feeling. Leah and I wanted to come see her, just let us know if and when she is ready for any visitors. Thanks!
Much love and many blessings!
